This is a release candidate of the next SmashingMag. Report a bug on GitHub or via email. Beware of cats.
We follow a strict rule of principles and guidelines before hitting that "Publish" button. We don't have any hidden advertisements. We don't participate in any kind of affiliate marketing. We respect the rights of authors, designers, photographers and developers.
We care about content, and we care about getting things done right. We never wanted to be a huge enterprise: our team is small, but it’s a truly wonderful team of people who really care about what they do. Passionate and dedicated. Honest and respectful. Professional but informal. Quirky and personal. We don’t seek first-class ninja developers nor certified editors; we seek team players who share our values. Our doors are always open to hard-working and passionate people, with or without experience.
In fact, we don’t see Smashing Magazine as a huge publishing house, but rather as a friendly, approachable, open-minded platform for everybody in the industry to voice their opinion and share what they’ve learned.
Through our articles, digital books, job openings, conferences and membership, we are committed to nourishing productivity, improving design and development skills and finessing the work-life balance. Getting better, together, by learning from each other — that’s the spirit that has been our mantra for all these years.
This website wouldn't be possible without a dedicated effort of kind and hard-working members of the web community. We kindly thank them for their steady, professional work from the bottom of our hearts.
Yep, we use ad-blockers as well, but we gotta keep the servers running, you know. We don’t have much advertising, but the few spots we have do help us pay the bills. In fact, we work with advertisers that share our values and that we are happy to support. We’d love to offer some limited ad spots to you as well. Ah, and if you need numbers: our Alexa Traffic Rank: 4.389 and we have a devoted community exceeding 1 Mio. Twitter followers worldwide.

All articles are carefully curated, edited and prepared according to the high standards set in the magazine’s Publishing Policy. These guidelines are continually revised and updated to ensure that the quality of the published content is never compromised. Smashing Magazine is always expanding to provide more quality content for professionals working in Web design.
The Smashing Team consists of Rachel Andrew, editor-in-chief of Smashing Magazine, Vitaly Friedman, co-founder of Smashing Magazine, our CEOs Markus Seyfferth and Inge Emmler, our senior editor Iris Lješnjanin, and Cosima Mielke who’s not only writing and editing articles, but also producing our eBooks. Last but not least, we’re very honored and happy to have Ricardo Gimenes on board as well!
Before an article is published, it’s reviewed by independent reviewers — respected members of the design community who provide feedback to authors and review technical details. We are very grateful for the fantastic work of our Experts Panel, and the magazine wouldn’t have the same quality without their profound expertise and support.
