Senior Web Designer (UCP VIII – Senior Art Designer)

If you speak “web,” we’re listening. From code, to content, to creative, you will help shape the UConn story. You will play a pivotal role in the strategy, conception, and design of signature University websites, such as uconn.edu and today.uconn.edu. The senior web designer will be a key member of a growing University Communications team. The candidate must be the type of designer who likes to take initiative and thrives in a collaborative work environment.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or related field or equivalent experience and training; Five to ten years on-the-job experience in web design or related field; Demonstrated supervisory, administrative and organizational skills; Evidence of creative ability as demonstrated by portfolio; Ability to solve complex technical or web design problems and to serve as creative consultant on projects; Evidence of promotional and marketing abilities.

Other Desirable Qualifications: Proficiency in the development of websites using Content Management Systems; Advanced knowledge of design and development of email marketing communications, including testing to ensure deliverability; Advanced knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and modern web design/development languages and techniques; Demonstrated experience with front-end development, web typography, functionality, and best practices of usability; Demonstrated success in graphic design for print publications and various collateral; Ability to work within the guidelines of an established University-wide brand; Proven ability to think conceptually, from idea to execution.

This is a permanent, full-time position.
