Web Designer - Purdue University - Office of Vice Provost for Student Life

The role of Web Designer will provide front end web design/development and deliver front-end markup and code, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Work closely with content director and marketing team, IT team and clients within the division of Student Life. Assist with creating new and modifying existing web sites for the division of Student Life; enhancing website’s design and functionality from the user’s perspective. Research, evaluate, test and recommend technical and dynamic solutions to improve the efficiency of the division’s electronic communication and data integration. Assist in keeping all maintained web pages up to date.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphic Technologies, Visual Communication Design or related field.

Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 1 year of experience in web design and development with an emphasis in front end technologies.

• Extensive knowledge of current tools necessary for web development and design including applications, software, and technologies such as HTML, HTML 5, Responsive Web Design, JavaScript, CSS, Less, Sass and jQuery.

• Front end frameworks such as Bootstrap, Foundation and Material Design.

CMS implementation knowledge such as Wordpress, Cascade or Drupal.

• Experience working with a content management system, Adobe Creative Cloud and Google Analytics.

• Exceptional visual communication skills.

• Ability to translate concepts into effective and functional electronic communication.

• Ability to research and learn new software and use them creatively.

• Portfolio must accompany resume as part of the formal application.

Preferred:

3 years of experience in web design with an emphasis in front end technologies.
