Web Applications Developer
UMCES invites applications for a Faculty Research Assistant position who will work as a Web Developer and Administrator in partnership with the U.S. EPA Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) staff at its Annapolis office. Serve as a member of the CBP Web Team and will be responsible for designing, developing and administering Web based applications furthering the goals of the CBP partnership
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
• Technical support for the development and implementation of web-based applications and solutions;
• Maintains knowledge of industry standards and technology;
• Plan, design, develop and maintain custom web applications;
• Effectively communicate science; and
• Research new standards, approaches and methodologies for the dynamic delivery of environmental information to target audiences.
Skill requirements:
• Development experience in HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript;
• Knowledge or interest in learning data-driven web development and dynamic information delivery technologies;
• Knowledge or interest in learning rich internet application development with tools like Flash, Flex and Silverlight;
• Ability to communicate scientific and technical information to a wide audience both orally and in writing; and
• Prefer BS degree with at least 3 years of experience in web development with background in science a plus.
