What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll bring beauty to our customer experience by establishing the look and feel of our user interface, all the while working peas-in-a-pod-style with our user experience designers. By translating wireframes into pixel-perfect mock ups, the engaging, aesthetically amazing designs you create will be pivotal in defining the visual language of our user interface. You’re ready, willing, and able to work with the current design of our site today as well as create a vision of where it will lead in future iterations. Lastly, you’ll weave the voice and vision of the ModCloth brand throughout every aspect of the interactive experience, down to the last mouse click.
Responsibilities:-Create a look and feel that visually communicates the interaction and functionality of site features and gives voice to our brand -Partner with our user experience designers to help create complex systems and metamorphose them into beautiful, digital user experiences -Translate wireframes into pixel-perfect mock-ups -Curate the visual design and direction for each project, and in doing so, help others create great work -Collaborate with project stakeholders to translate their feedback into smart iterations of your design(s) -Delight our customers by harnessing the brand to craft interfaces that they’ll love to look at and use -Partner with the Creative and Marketing Teams to ensure that branding and vision for UI and marketing collateral match up like pieces of a puzzle -Own the visual component of the UX team’s style guide and be the lighthouse for consistency across the site
Requirements:-An online portfolio demonstrating your proven and brilliant design skills -3-5 years experience designing the visual components of interactive interfaces -Genius at translating sketches and wireframes into pixel-perfect, polished comps -Been there, done that, and excited to do more when it comes to working with user experience designers, engineering teams, and product managers -Expert understanding of web, interactive, and mobile design -Ability to knock our socks off with your skills in online visual design, mobile design, typography, icons, and grid layouts -BFFs with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and Fireworks -Whiz-level understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS, AJAX, and designing for web browsers, from IE6+ to Chrome -No stranger to designing for mobile -Impressive understanding of design constraints, screen resolutions, scaling assets, and how these principles extend throughout the digital realm -Ability to cut design assets optimized for both appearance and performance -Thirst for learning, experimenting, and sharing your knowledge -Frighteningly organized, particularly in your Photoshop files, layers, and sub-layers…you have no ‘Layer 1’ and nothing is ever called ‘home page – final.’ -Happiest when working in an iterative, collaborative environment -Awe-inspiring ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams -Excited by the challenge of designing within constraints (existing style guidelines, seasonal campaigns, or technology and performance requirements)
Nice to Haves:-Ecommerce experience and/or experience with large brands -Knowledge of fashion brands and marketing trends -After Effects/motion graphics production -Familiarity with the agile development methodology and user-centered design process
