Talented Web Developer (Central London, UK)

Mendeley enables scientists to manage, explore, share, and visualize their research. You can help us create the tools for that. We’re looking for a talented web developer to join us in Central London. Your task will be to advance the web part of our integrated desktop + web-based research network.

Not only do we have exciting technology and angel/venture capital funding, but we also have a brilliant team including people who’ve helped to build Last.fm, one of Europe’s most successful start-ups. Together we can revolutionize the way students and researchers work, grow the world‘s largest academic community, and create something truly meaningful.

You should…
…have a degree in Computer Science or a related field – if not, you can also convince us with outstanding past work
…have expert knowledge of PHP, Smarty and JavaScript
…want to broaden your experience building scaleable server applications and working with relational databases, specifically MySQL
…be keen on making the work of researchers and students more efficient, and more fun, by providing them with the latest Web 2.0 technologies

You will…
…shape Mendeley with your own ideas, enthusiasm and personality
…develop a complex system architecture, integrating desktop and web functionality
…implement web interfaces using XHTML, CSS, and Ajax
…work in a friendly, easy and very flexible work environment in Central London, with a bright team of young founders and successful entrepreneurs
