Software Engineer - Flash & JavaScript

Animoto is looking for a engineer with Flash and Javascript experience to help with our many multimedia needs. Millions of users engage with our Flash-based applications every month, and we are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with exciting initiatives like streaming video to our player while it’s being generated. We’re also strategically migrating certain of our Flash components to Javascript/HTML5.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand a robust Animoto Platform video-creation tool built in Flex 4 and deployed to a number of high-traffic external partner sites.
  • Maintain video editing and delivery apps such as our primary Flash media player.
  • Engage with our new and growing Apps team and other teams to do fast prototyping of upcoming products and mobile applications.
  • Write serious ActionScript. Encapsulation, modularity, abstraction, cohesion, loose coupling.
  • Write unit tests for your work and actively engage with our Test team.
  • Work closely with our Platform team to tie into RESTful web services.
  • Fight to find solid workarounds to tough browser- and player-specific issues, and push the limits of Flash technology.

Requirements

  • Strong AS3 skills (familiarity with Ruby or other languages a plus)
  • Solid experience with Flex (familiarity with IOC frameworks like Swiz a plus)
  • Disciplined approach to writing well-structured, maintainable code
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience
