This individual is responsible for the entire visual look and feel of the Museum’s websites, kiosks, and other interactive mediums. This position will be work on a variety of projects across the entire Museum, working from concept to executed designs, motion graphics, and interactive applications.
 Based on stakeholder objectives, translate strategy, concepts and functional requirements into polished, engaging visual elements of the Museum’s websites and interactive mediums. Specific examples would include:
• Developing engaging new visual elements for online educational activities, visit planning, and informational areas
• Creating complete designs utilizing static and dynamic elements for permanent and temporary Museum physical and online exhibitions
• Creating static designs for website “thematic wrappers” and newsletters
 Lead visual creative process from discovery to deployment across multiple Museum web projects, interactive mediums and devices
 Work closely with other Museum departments in developing visual designs and interactive applications for exhibits and Museum guest programming
 Communicate questions, needs, resource allocation issues, etc. to Senior Management
 Ensure all content meets Museum style, tone, site and brand standards
 Define dynamic and functional aspects of the user experience, applying user-centered design principals
 Develop storyboards, wireframes, sketches, and theme boards to illustrate designs for new web experiences, flash games, and interactive applications
 Execute visual designs as static graphics, page and module templates (CSS), flash applications (ActionScript), and animations.
 Collaborate with other web team members on project plans including timelines and deliverables
 Work under tight deadlines and finds creative solutions to limitations encountered during the design process
 Manage other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Education or related field or equivalent
• Minimum five+ years professional interactive development experience
• Excellent verbal, written and illustration skills
• Strong project-management skills
• Experience in working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
• Demonstrated ability to execute multiple, interdependent end to end projects simultaneously
• Highly proficient in Photoshop, Freehand or Illustrator
• Highly proficient in Flash based motion development
• Highly proficient in ActionScript and CSS development & integration
• Working knowledge of related technologies such as HTML, XML, and JavaScript and ability to understand designing within their constraints
• Demonstrated experience working with large, complex CMS-driven websites
• Experience with 3D design and sound design
• Strong typography skills
• Prior experience working in an interactive agency or similar service business environment
• Expert knowledge of Web development and implementation cycle
• Strong portfolio of web and interact
