A full-time Professor at Fanshawe College is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach a wide range of media courses from introductory to advanced and be familiar with supporting senior level research projects. Candidates must be committed to teaching and mentoring students by engaging students in experiential education opportunities.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
 Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
 Excellent communicator
 Strong interpersonal skills
 Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
 Strong computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies are required
 Previous college teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assets

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
 College diploma or University degree in Computer Animation or a related field (post graduate education and/or additional training with digital technology are assets)
 3D work in a professional studio for a minimum of 5 years
 Advanced level skills in one of these software packages: 3D Max, Maya or XSI
 Strong portfolio/demo reel of traditional art and 3D work
 Experience in a variety of roles including modeling, shading, animation, rigging and lighting
 Demonstrated ability to work well in a team
 A history of skills to research and assess new technology and gear
 Ability to work closely with local community partners and/or business to provide practical projects for students and to organize and participate in extracurricular projects (such as field trips, seminars, professional associations, events and conferences, etc.)
 Ability to develop community partnerships and to work with the Chair and Dean to advance the School of Contemporary Media as a centre of excellence in Contemporary Media

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 Strong network of contacts with other professionals and employers
 Minimum 2 years of College level teaching experience with positive student feedback
 Experience with a Motion Capture system
 Expertise in Adobe CS3/4 (Photoshop & Illustrator), ZBrush and/or MudBox
 Video and audio editing skills
 Storyboarding and character drawing skills

Approximate Start Date: August 17, 2009

Salary: Determination of starting salaries is based on relevant teaching/occupational experience and relevant formal qualifications, supported with original transcripts from granting institutions. The salary scale is $55,683 to $96,529 along with a comprehensive benefit package.
