Interaction Designer / Web Designer
Description
SlideShare is looking for design craftsmen who will help take its design and usability to the next level. This role requires working in close proximity with our software developers, product managers, analysts to ship high quality software through rigorous attention to visual, interaction & usability details.
- Conceptualize low fidelity wireframes & mockups (using Powerpoint/Balsamiq/Photoshop), convert these into high fidelity prototype and then handcode into HTML/CSS
- Follow a metrics approach to design: A/B testing, viral loop tracking, using tools like Google Analytics, Google WebSite Optimizer, Kissmetrics, CrazyEgg, Mixpanel in daily design tasks
- Conduct usability testing on key interactions and experiences, hueristics/taskflow analysis and translate the findings into action points for the engineering team
- Design graphic elements- forms, logos, icons, banners, microsites, marketing collaterals as needed
- Our product development philosophy revolves around practises like metrics oriented design, minimum viable product (MVP), agile engineering – you’d need to internalise these and be its internal champion from a design standpoint.
Specific Skills
- Degree in Web design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, HCI or Software Engineering
- 1 to 5 years experience in similar role (preferably in internet/web company). Bright freshers with proven skills can apply as well.
- Good skills with XHTML (handcoding), CSS, Javascript (basic level)
- Good graphic design skills using Photoshop, Illustrator
- Excellent understanding of Web 2.0 design patterns
- Excellent communication & writing skills
Bonus points to candidates with exposure to good web development practises like W3C standards, table less layout, cross browser compatibility, SEO friendly mark-up, graceful website degradation etc.
