Front-End Web Developer for Black Hat
Black Hat events (www.blackhat.com) is looking for front-end developer with solid HTML coding skills and a love of Photoshop. You’ll work in our San Francisco office with a fast-paced, small team of web developers where you will focus on the Black Hat brand. The Black Hat event team is based in our Seattle office, so you’ll also need to be comfortable being part of a decentralized team, sometimes taking direction from the remote office.
This position will be responsible for building and maintaining Black Hat’s web site, where event attendees come to learn about the conference and register for it. You will take visual designs created in Photoshop and turn them into fast, efficient, web pages. You’ll keep pages updated with content during Black Hat’s event marketing cycle. Your daily activities will include coding CSS and HTML, working in Photoshop and working with Git.
What you’ll do:
-Engage with the Black Hat event team to build amazing websites for the event
-Turn design comps created by web designers in Photoshop into standards-based, SEO-friendly HTML and CSS code
-Update sites with new copy/graphics/functionality as directed by the designers and/or event marketing team
-Identify opportunities to improve the UI of the web sites
-Hands-on experience in standards-compliant efficient HTML & CSS
-Experience implementing designs across multiple platforms and browsers
-Attention to detail – match the designer’s specs to the site you’re building
-Initiative and the ability to work independently and in a team
-College degree in related field, or college degree plus related experience.
-UI design skills – knowing what works and what doesn’t
-Knowledge of the BluePrint CSS framework
-Experience with jQuery
-Experience with Git
-Pointers to websites you’ve built
