The Opportunity
Atlassian is lucky to have a large community of passionate users and is looking for someone to answer questions, create tutorials, and advocate the needs of our developer community. Because of our transparency and our products’ plugin capabilities, our developer community have been able to enhance and extend our products with add-ons. The Developer Support team is responsible for helping our developer community build awesome solutions (and sometimes whole businesses) on top of Atlassian products.
The ideal candidate will be an active participant in a technical community with activities like blog posts on technical subjects, tutorials written, code contributions to an open-source project, presentations of videos given at a technical conference, or anything else that might demonstrate your skills and passion in communicating about the technology that excites you. The Atlassian Developer Relations team is a great opportunity to combine your technical and community skills and reap the rewards that come from helping other people accomplish amazing things.
Responsibilities:
• Engaging the community to answer questions from external developers about our products, tools and internal or remote APIs via our public Q&A site answers.atlassian.com.
• Creating tutorials and guides for developing add-ons and using our APIs.
• Understanding Atlassian add-on development at a technical level, and constantly improving the process.
• Teaching external and internal developers best practices for writing quality add-ons.
• Advocating the needs of external developer community to our product teams.
• Mentor Junior support engineers to better understand debugging code.
Skills and Qualities:
• A passion for helping developer community succeed.
• A passion for community, and the ability to communicate effectively with people around the world.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers.
• Java development experience and talent. Experience using Open Source framework.
• Understanding of Maven, and a familiarity with other Java build & life-cycle tools.
• Experience with Python would be a bonus.
• Participation in open source projects is encouraged.
